Point of contact for Markets and for the assigned legal matters associated to the activity of Citi in Colombia.
Client facing position.
Must be able to provide legal assessment in very short time to assure not losing market opportunities.
Must be highly assertive in leveling commercial view against legal, franchise and regulatory risks.
Must have managerial skills with enough seniority to deal with Senior Management, external counsels and high level employees of ICG Customers.
Must have skills to take a leading role in matters assigned, not only with a pure legal technical view, but with soft skills that allow proper influence on others including relationship managers and Senior Management.
Should have the ability to define next steps, construct strategy and assure proper implementation; not a merely execution role.
Requires the seniority and technical knowledge to attend meetings with regulators (when transactions or products face road blocks) or with the industry (to properly influence a Bank´s position); and with other Citi units locally and abroad.
Must have seniority enough to take decisions that may be binding to Citi.
Must be able to have discussions with Customers and/or regulators related to specific transactions, or market tendencies and/or opportunities.
Provide strategic and timely support through legal analysis on the viability of market transactions (fx and securities derivatives, spot); identify road blocks and associated risks, propose alternative solutions and/or assure proper escalation to prevent Citi from incurring in undesired risks.
Negotiate local ISDA contracts, as well as indexed loan documentation facing clients and internal stakeholders.
Analyze existing regulation to advice on opportunities and risks considering the activity performed in Colombia.
Represent Citi before stakeholders such as regulators (superintendence of finance - central bank), clients and industry members.
Support country counsel in strategic projects
Colombian law degree. LLM/MSc preferable.
Worked at the financial system in Colombia 5-8 years.
Experience in treasury transactions/ financial markets/banking.
Needs to have managerial skills.
