Responsibilities

The Business Analyst will be a key member of the Cable Entertainment Technology team, which manages the Technology portfolio supporting NBCUniversal’s Cable Entertainment Group (comprising of USA, SYFY, Bravo, Oxygen, among others). That portfolio consists of custom- and vendor-supported products that support various finance, scheduling, programming, production, and marketing departments.

The BA, Marketing Production Technology, will execute and support technology projects/systems related to marketing production workflows across NBCU’s Cable Marketing Technology portfolio. This individual will participate in the delivery of new capabilities and workflow enhancements including, but not limited to the promo lifecycle management process, scheduling technologies, and production/post-production related solutions. This person will also participate in and/or conduct analyses related to process mapping, process improvements, and the implementation of tactical and strategic recommendations within the Cable Marketing ecosystem.

Specific responsibilities include –

  • Provide on-site support ensuring stability of existing products and successful implementation and adoption of technology solutions;

  • Perform business analysis, document processes/workflows, identify automation opportunities and requirements;

  • Work closely with the business to manage user expectations, understand & prioritize business requirements, conduct user training, perform system demos, and create documentation;

  • Manage the deployment and communication around product releases;

  • Support the delivery of business projects & initiatives;

  • Work closely with development resources to develop business solutions;

  • Provide cost benefit analyses or cost savings opportunities

  • Ensure completion of all project-related artifacts, including functional specifications, technical specifications, use cases, and test plans

  • Coordinate all aspects of testing: conduct functional tests, coordinate performance test and user acceptance testing;

  • Participate in budgeting and proposal efforts such as cost-benefit analyses, and level of effort assessments;

  • Become a subject matter expert in the system as well as the business process that he/she is supporting

  • Occasional off-hours support may be necessary to address outages or pressing system issues.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering or equivalent work experience;

  • 2+ years’ experience with business analysis & requirements gathering, writing and managing use cases and functional/technical requirements creation;

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook;

  • Proficient with process mapping tools like Visio, Omnigraffle, or LucidCharts

  • Self-starter that demonstrates initiative and ability to work independently with little supervision.

Desired Characteristics

  • Experience in US Media & Entertainment environment preferred, specifically with production, traffic, and other related TV systems;

  • Experience with custom and vendor managed solutions;

  • Experience managing 3rd party team resources as well as an extended team of resources;

  • Integration (ETL & Data) and Data Management Experience;

  • 1+ year experience in Project Management with delivery accountability. Understanding of SCRUM methodology a plus;

  • Demonstrated proficient use with Microsoft Project or similar project management tool;

  • Excellent communication, presentation & analysis skills with solid business acumen;

  • Collaborative team player accustomed to working within and across groups;

  • Organized and detail-oriented with ability to manage own work as well as track the activities of others;

  • Ability to manage through competing/conflicting requests and obtain consensus;

  • Ability to overcome obstacles and develop resolutions to complex problems;

  • Ability to work in a fast paced, deadline driven environment
