The Marketing Planning & Strategy Team plays a pivotal role at Mackenzie by leading the development of effective Marketing plans and strategies that are aligned with its corporate goals, objectives, and strategies.
Reporting to the VP Marketing Strategy and Planning and serving as a leader in the marketing department the AVP Marketing Planning and Strategy is a visionary marketer leading a team of marketers in the development and deployment of advisor channel and fixed income marketing strategy.
Responsible for playing a lead role in communicating and understanding the advice channel needs and the wide array of asset management solutions available in Canada the AVP Marketing Strategy and Planning will:
Manage and collaborate with a team/s in preparing business cases, building financial models, conducting opportunity assessments, leading industry/market reviews.
Develop creative and logical recommendations to business/marketing problems by linking facts and insights from multiple sources (e.g. market research, competitive intelligence, client insights, industry reports, academic literature).
Assisting in the development of the Mackenzie’s annual marketing plan and resulting initiatives including identifying, understanding and reconciling any shifts in business needs, advisor and consumer insights and competitive and industry trends that may impact Mackenzie Investments or the financial services sector as a whole, recognizing the implications and proposing the appropriate strategies across various business units to address them.
Major Responsibilities Include:
Lead a team of two strategic marketing members coaching, developing; ensuring role clarity and performance is assessed regularly to provide a high level of engagement and employee satisfaction
Build and manage close relationships with key business partners, both inside and outside of marketing, to understand and influence their strategies and priorities
Stay current on best practices and drive strategic thinking for Mackenzie’s evolving marketing mix to optimize performance and improve marketing mix effectiveness, prioritizing next steps for short- and long-term strategic planning purposes
Support efforts to better understand and improve the experience and resources for the advisor and investor inclusive of advancing existing platforms
Coordinate with internal teams to align marketing plans with enterprise goals and objectives
Develop and implement integrated strategic marketing solutions addressing advice channel needs and drive positive Mackenzie brand perception
Drive the advisor channel marketing planning processes including; discussions cross-functionally to determine opportunities, identification of potential strategic initiatives and actions, perform feasibility studies and assist with the implementation of resulting efforts
Support the creation, management and execution of the strategic marketing plans for broad scope multi-channel and multi-segment initiatives
Translate the strategic marketing plan into tactical plans inclusive of content, campaigns, editorial, digital and media
Communicate the tactical plans by educating and influencing across multiple levels
Strong interpersonal and behavioral leadership skills
Excellent problem diagnose and analytical skills
Ability to focus on detail while understanding and always connecting to the big picture
Creative, outside of the box, thinker
Ability to gather relevant information and “connect the dots” to develop compelling stories
Ability to write and present concisely and persuasively
Strong business and financial acumen
Deep knowledge of the MS Office Suite especially – Excel and PowerPoint
University Degree (ideally in Commerce / Economics / or in other quantitative discipline)
MBA an asset
10+ years of increasing experience in the area of marketing/business planning/strategy experience in progressive, data-driven organizations
Experience in financial services, organizations with a distributed sales force or consumer packaged goods would be an asset
