Description

The Position

This role is a market manager opportunity that will be responsible for research use only (RUO) metabolomics and lipidomics for the life science research, pharmaceuticals, and food markets. The market manager will establish clear business justifications for projects, contribute to the activities of a team of product concept owners, and represent the voice of customers to prioritize product requirements, manage product lifecycle, establish monetization options and ensure feature delivery to the customers. A strong understanding of Precision Medicine, and ‘multi-omics’ (genomics, proteomics, metabolomics, lipidomics, etc.) life science research will be required. The candidate will need to be able to work in a fast paced environment in a lean organization and must be willing to roll up their sleeves to ensure the job gets completed.

Main position objectives:

  1. Establish a global product line of metabolomics and lipidomics solutions with a sustainable revenue stream

  2. Manage the entire product line life cycle for mass spectrometry based metabolomics and lipidomics solutions from strategic planning to tactical activities

  3. Specify market requirements from all major geographic regions for current and future products by conducting market research supported by on-going visits to customers and non-customers

  4. Drive a solution set across development teams through market requirements and positioning

  5. Work cross-functionally to support the development and implementation of company-wide strategic plans and go-to-market plans

  6. Analyze and implement potential partner relationships for the products, where appropriate

    Reporting Relationship

    Reports to Senior Director, Academic & Clinical Research Business Unit

    Responsibilities:

    The Market Manager, Metabolomics and Lipidomics has the following responsibilities:

  7. Manage product development to ensure complete portfolio alignment and meet the needs of the Academic, Pharmaceutical and Food/Forensics Testing markets

  8. Interact with key internal and external customers globally to understand problems, obtain feedback on new and existing products, and identify solutions

  9. Manage relationships with KOL’s and conduct VOC interviews and surveys to ensure customer problems and needs are well understood

  10. Synthesize customer input to deliver to product development team and identify user and buyer personas, user needs, and product roadmap

  11. Provide leadership and direction for all internal associates and external partners responsible for the project to ensure projects are successfully completed on time and consistent with organizational goals

  12. Adopt a proactive approach to identify risks to project success and create and maintain a project risk log; develop effective action plans for resolution as early as possible.

  13. Use Danaher Business Systems (DBS) to guide projects through the development cycle.

  14. Manage key aspects of product commercialization to ensure success in meeting revenue goals

  15. Management of internal efforts required for product commercialization, including interfacing with Quality Management Systems, R&D, and related roles

  16. Organize and drive activities cross-functionally related to global product launch, including developing positioning, sales training, pricing and collateral development to ensure product launch execution

  17. Determine if sales training and tools are adequate and complete post launch, and drive activities to fill any remaining gaps

  18. Assist in the development of strategic plan and drive strategic action plan

  19. Estimate market size, segmentation and target market definition to drive a long term product roadmap for both new and existing products, globally

  20. Evaluate business opportunities in terms of return on investment

  21. Manage updates to product roadmap considering priorities, resources, and competitive landscape

  22. Analyze potential partner relationships for the product

  23. Monitor business and ensure tactical execution is on track to meet revenue and strategic goals

  24. Effectively monitor the activities competition and communicate any pertinent news regarding the competition or other market-related developments and news (including relevant papers)

  25. Manage customer, client, and support functions expectations of product and services

  26. Manage full product life cycle including product end-of-life (EOL) in alignment with business needs

  27. Assists in the development of tactical marketing plans to drive both regional and global partners

Qualification
The Person

Certain personal attributes and requisite prior experiences will be necessary components of the successful candidate’s background for the role:

Education and Work Experience:

  1. 3 years of life science capital equipment product management experience and/or customer support

  2. Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in a Biological Science, Marketing, Business Administration or related field; Master’s degree a strong plus

  3. Demonstrated intimate knowledge of mass spectrometry-based ‘Omics’ workflows; Mass Spectrometry or similar experience preferred

  4. Ability to perform exceptionally in fast paced, performance oriented environment

  5. Experience working in a global environment and highly matrixed organization a plus

    Travel:

    This position requires travel to customer and non-customer sites globally, particular in North America and Europe, with additional travel to trade shows and SCIEX sites (minimum 25%).
