Sallie Mae is looking for an experienced SEO manager who can assist in the growth of our organic search channel through developing, managing, and overseeing our media partner's execution of successful integrated search strategies. This person will be viewed as a subject matter expert who would be responsible for driving and reporting successes of the strategies, as well as partnering with various internal teams on implementation and analysis.
Work with SEO agency to develop measurable strategies to grow organic search channel
Perform day-to-day channel management responsibilities including strategy/project development, timelines, goals, and results
Partner with SEM channel team and media agency to develop and implement integrated search strategies to benefit both SEM and SEO programs, as well as collaborate on testing measurement and analyses
Own performance management and reporting by working closely with the 3rd party agency and internal Attribution analytics team to communicate value of the SEO channel on an attributed conversion basis.
Oversee the maintenance/improvement of search rankings before/after web content changes (i.e. contemplating impacts to canonical tags and 301 redirect mappings during redesigns)
Review SEO agency recommendations to ensure they align with, and complement Web Strategy team initiatives (such as site redesigns)
Work with web analytics team and tools to understand SEO impact on web traffic trends
Develop internal reporting to be shared with various levels of management on a frequent basis
Internally communicate strategies, agency recommendations, and results to senior management
Validate SEO updates in web development environments and production to ensure implementation is successful (both on and off-page)
Keep pace with SEO, search engine, social media and internet marketing industry trends and development
Brainstorm and add SEO perspective in web project/planning meetings to ensure site enhancements are conducive to driving organic search growth
Work with Web Strategy team and web developers to implement SEO strategies on an ongoing basis
This position requires a detail-oriented, data-driven individual that should feel comfortable and confident in managing budgets, collaborating with peers, and presenting to management.
Marketing Strategy, Execution and Project Management -- 50%
Develop SEO strategies to improve overall ranking and relevancy within search engines
Adhere to defined process to maintain compliance and web standards, as well as respectable SEO practices
Identify business risks and opportunities and communicate them to stake holders.
Ensure SEO strategies are developed and executed successfully with a set up that enables sound and clear success measurement.
Present opportunities to improve readiness for advances/updates in search engine algorithms
Analysis/Reporting -- 20%
Analyze, and report on campaigns, leverage analysis to develop recommendations to improve performance against defined KPIs, and work with cross-functional teams to continue to make updates to increase conversion
Compile campaign analyses that report success of tactics, as well as understanding the value that SEO drives and the relationship between paid and organic search via Attribution analysis
Ensure results meet efficiency and channel objectives.
Budget Responsibilities -- 15%
Ensure SEO agency is managing to all determined deliverables and strategies are successful
Secure and manage POs and invoices for programs.
Identify opportunities within management of campaigns
Compliance -- 15%
Maintain appropriate approval documentation for all marketing tactics
Develop (as needed) policy and procedure documentation
Requirements Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge/experience in SEM and its relationship to SEO
Excellent verbal and written communications skills suitable for all levels of management
Strong understanding of how web analytics are implemented and strong written/verbal communication skills to clearly convey these requirements to internal SLM developers
Excellent organizational and project management skills (attention to detail, project management, handling multiple priorities, managing tight timelines)
Strong strategic thinker with analytical, communication and presentation skills
Demonstrated ability to influence and collaborate with peers, leaders and business partners
Flexibility to travel (10%)
5-7 years SEO management experience
Experience in agency/partner relationship management
Experienced user of all Microsoft applications such as PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, and Word
Other Helpful Experience
Experience in Adobe Site Catalyst and Google Search Console
General understanding of attribution analytics #LI-ME
