Cornell University Administrative Assistant III, Athletics AA&D in Ithaca, New York

Under the leadership of the Director of Athletic Alumni Affairs & Development, the individual coordinates various administrative and logistical activities in a fast-paced, professional environment. Responsibilities include providing administrative support for the Director of Athletics AA& D; drafting correspondence on behalf of the Athletic Director, Director of Athletic AA& D and gift officers; managing the departments gift acknowledgement system; managing and curating web content for the Department's web site(s); assisting in the planning and execution of alumni engagement activities; preparing event briefings and performing research on alumni and donors as needed; coordinating stewardship activities in conjunction with University Donor Relations; supervising work-study students; assisting with preparation of phonathons; managing the creation of event registration pages; completing PeopleSoft entries relevant to alumni engagement; providing support for Cornell Athletic volunteer board meetings and activities related to Athletic-AAD priorities; and, preparing reports on donors and gift activity.


Required Qualifications

Formal training beyond a HS Diploma of 6 months to 1 year; more than 2 years and less than 4 years experience.  Excellent communication skills, both written (with particular emphasis on written) and verbal.  Effective organizational skills and strong detail orientation.  Ability to work independently, as well as collaboratively with individuals across the University as well as College faculty, key alumni, volunteers and executive staff.  Ability to effectively apply the concepts and principles of nurturing fundraising, campaign/project fundraising and speculative fundraising.  Ability to appropriately handle highly confidential and sensitive information.  Ability to exercise sound judgment, tact and discretion.  Ability to excel while handling multiple tasks and competing priorities at the same time.  Must be able and willing to work occasional weekends, evenings, and to undertake business travel. 

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelors degree, or Associates degree and two to three years of experience, or equivalent is preferred.
