Job Description

Position Summary:

Works with Personal Care Coordinator and referral sources in implementing Personal Care Attendant Services to meet the needs of private pay, Home and Community Based Services (HCBS) and state plan Montana Medicaid Personal Assistance Services (MMPAS) recipients. This includes assistance in recruiting, hiring, orientating, oversight and coordinating personal care attendants; evaluating recipient needs and placing appropriate care attendant(s) to meet the needs of the recipient; monitoring personal care attendant services and recipient satisfaction; reviewing and authorizing personal care attendant billing; and assisting the Personal Care Supervisor with marketing and reporting of homecare services. Admit and oversee Private Pay and Self Direct clients under the direct supervision of the Home Care Coordinator; report any changes or problems to the Home Care Coordinator. Reviews all processes on a yearly basis to assure those processes are current and within or exceeding guidelines.

  • Works with Personal Care Coordinator and Admin. Assistant II in evaluating program effectiveness and compliance with program goals and standards.

  • Follows the billing and payroll procedure as set by Accounting Department.

  • Works with Accounting Department in timely manner with discrepancies of personal care attendants and/or clients.

  • Tracks and follow up with late payments on Private Pay clients.

  • Monitors and tracks monthly Medicaid eligibility checks on State Mediciad clients; reports any problems to Personal Care Coordinator.

  • Maintain SLI paperwork.

  • Sets up PAS Team Member files to meet state requirements

  • Supervises Personal Care Attendants on a regular basis to ensure services are being delivered in a caring and competent manner.

  • Works with Personal Care Attendant Scheduler II and Personal Care Attendants to ensure maximum coordination of recipient services.

  • Assists Personal Care Coordinator with performance evaluations at 6 and 12 months on all new attendants and yearly thereafter and forward to Human Resource Department (based on hire date of PCA).

  • Coordinates and schedules in-service training for Personal Care Attendants to be in compliance for State plan (MMPAS) requirement of 8 hours in-service per year.

  • Assesses and evaluates patient’s services, reporting to Personal Care Coordinator when appropriate.

  • Makes home visits for all clients as scheduled, in a timely manner and per State guidelines.

  • Follows all ESGW and MMPAS guidelines in response to referrals, client eligibility, intakes, discharges, 180 day visits, doctor orders, and all required paperwork. All MMPAS files must meet state standards.

  • Completes all State requirements for the personal assistance program to meet State standards and time lines.

  • Sets up required files for Private Pay and MMPAS clients (separate from the PCAs) to meet State and ESGW guidelines.

  • Reviews all processes such as payroll, chart forms, office functioning, etc., with appropriate staff to assure those processes are current while making improvements where possible.

  • Communicates effectively both written & orally with other co-workers and clients.

  • Must have knowledge of the problems and needs of the elderly and physically disabled

  • Ability to move independently or with reasonable accommodation within the facility and community.

  • Applicant must be physically and mentally able to perform all requirements of the job.

  • Applicant must pass a background and DMV check

Required Experience

  • High School/Equivalent

  • 0-2 years

  • Some medical background helpful, but not necessary
