General Summary

Under general supervision, performs administrative tasks usually for a vice president or senior vice president.

Essential Functions

Prepares reports and correspondence by transcribing notes and taking dictation. Maintains correspondence and data files, often confidential in nature. Makes travel, appointment and meeting arrangements. May take and relay telephone messages. Prepares expense accounts. Conducts research, and compiles and types reports. Prepares outgoing mail and correspondence, including e-mail and faxes. May compose own correspondence. Makes copies of correspondence or other printed materials. May order and maintain supplies, and arrange for equipment maintenance. Complies with Marsh professional standards to ensure quality service to all clients. Other duties as assigned or required.

Requires limited knowledge of company policies, practices, and organization. Ability to interface with employees and management at various levels within an organization. Maintains a high level of professionalism, integrity and trust. Ability to follow instructions and complete tasks within assigned time frames and with acceptable levels of accuracy. Requires attention to detail, analytical ability and strong communication skills. 60-65 w.p.m. typing. Secretarial or business school graduate with 2-3 years experience or equivalent work experience. Demonstrates proficiency in the use of email, word processing and spreadsheet software, preferably MS Office applications. Basic business writing and intermediate shorthand skills preferred.
