Position Description Overview

The Account Director has primary client contact and is a subject matter expert in Creative Services supporting print and digital initiatives on a global basis. The Account Director ensures that the development and implementation of all requests deliver pragmatic and integrated solutions to meet business objectives all while managing client expectations around quality deadline and budget. This position serves as a leader in the development activities of our core creative and production function as a shared services department globally. As a trusted advisor, the Account Director will consult with clients to ensure they are informed of the various options available to them to maximize the impact of their initiative, while seeking efficiencies and cost savings as appropriate.

Job Responsibilities

  • Utilize strong project management skills, organizational skills and time-management skills, including ability to problem solve, analyze potential solutions and use good sound judgment to make decisions.

  • Leverage understanding of the “Big Picture” around brand and company directions, which allows the individual to make good sound business decisions that benefit the organization.

  • Leverage knowledge in graphic design applications, systems, and databases used in a Creative Services department to manage client expectations.

  • Maintain commitment to ensuring quality and exceeding customer satisfaction expectations.

  • Excellent organizational skills required, ability to work independently and strong communication, teamwork and problem solving skills.

  • Initiates projects through the department’s project management system.

  • Work Front Follows progress of jobs from inception to completion.

  • Collaborates with Design and Content leadership to identify appropriate staffing resources for projects, and communicates assignments and job status.

  • Ensures client document requirements are communicated to team.

  • Plans projects, including defining objectives, methods and timetables.

  • Ensures confidentiality of proprietary materials and information.

Scope of Job

The position develops budgets and is responsible for metrics to measure the success of his/her area of responsibility. This position will be expected to stay on budget with all deliverables and meet established deadlines.


Performs duties and makes complex decisions and recommendations under limited direction and using a high degree of initiative and independent judgment . This position is required to work autonomously in the development and execution of marketing strategy. When decisions are needed beyond their span of control, assistance is sought from the Sr. Director or VP of Marketing.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in business, MBA preferred with an emphasis on marketing or related field or an equivalent combination of experience and education.

  • Minimum 8-10 years of progressive marketing, communications or product management experience in a business to business environment.

  • Knowledge in a variety of marketing communications areas.

  • Strong analytical skills.

  • Ability to translate technical product information into external, benefits-focused material.

  • Experience in the banking / financial industry a plus.

  • Experience managing employees preferred.

  • Over 5 years experience with vendor selection and management.

  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.

  • Demonstrated influence and negotiating skills with senior management.

  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple, parallel projects to deadline in a cross-functional team environment.

  • Experience working in PowerPoint and presentation creation.

  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite.

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field and/or 7 years of related experience or comparable experience with progressively expanding responsibilities.
