Gelson’s Markets is well known for our enticing array of freshly prepared hot foods, gourmet salads and salad bar. The Service Deli Hot Foods Chef plays an important role in promoting a quality image of the company through the department presentation and delivery of an excellent product.

The Service Deli Hot Foods Chef prepares food products according to Gelson’s recipes and standards. Following all HAACP program standards is essential in the production of all prepared foods. The Hot Foods Chef must also display a clear understanding of all cooking techniques and terminology’s, monitor food quality to assure the recipe meets Gelson’s standards. When directed, the Hot Foods Chef will also be responsible for ordering goods and products following all department guidelines. The ability to interact and communicate effectively with customers and all levels of staff within Gelson’s Markets is mandatory. The Service Deli Hot Foods Chef must possess strong teamwork and interpersonal skills.

Strong working knowledge of food service operations is required. All service deli positions start at part time. Pay rate will be dependent on experience.

Physical requirements:

Walking, Standing, Bending, Squatting, Climbing and Twisting

Hand manipulation required such as; Grasping, Power Grasping, Pushing and Pulling and Fine Manipulation

Reaching above and below the shoulder

Lifting 10 to 50 lbs.

Working near hazardous equipment and machinery (Mixer, slicer, stove & ovens)

Exposure to noise (mixer and food processor)

Exposure to extremes in temperature (ovens and walk-in freezers)
