The Gelson’s Markets bakery is known for exceptional cake decorating and design and we are proud of the reputation we have built. The Gelson’s Markets Cake Decorator must possess creativity with regards to cake design. All Cake Decorators must have experience with both butter cream and fondant frosting. Our Cake Decorators will create out of this world works of art for display in our bakery case with cakes, cupcakes, cookies and tarts working with numerous combinations to develop new creations. Wedding cakes are our specialty! Our Cake Decorators will always be challenged to create their next masterpiece. Please note that all Decorators applying for the position will be given a decorating test to assess abilities.

As a Gelson’s Markets Cake Decorator you will come in direct contact with our customers. Excellent customer service, attentive listening and resourceful assistance are crucial. The ability to interact and communicate effectively with customers and all levels of staff within Gelson’s Markets is mandatory. The Gelson’s Cake Decorator must possess strong teamwork and interpersonal skills.

All bakery department positions start at part time. Pay rate will be dependent on experience.

Physical requirements:

  • Continuous hand manipulation including, grasping, pushing, pulling and fine manipulation

  • Reaching above and at shoulder level

  • Standing up to 6 hours per day

  • Walking, bending, squatting, twisting up to 3 hours per day

  • Lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs.

  • Lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs. rarely

  • Working near hazardous equipment (Oven, mixer)

  • Exposure to dust, gas, fumes (Flour dust, ovens)

  • Exposure to noise (Oven, pan washer, mixers, fans)

  • Exposure to extremes in temperature (Walk in freezer, oven)

  • Working at heights (Step stool ladder)
